Women’s religious institutions and their nursing activities 1800-1950 in the Czech Lands 1800-1950
This article focuses on the importance of women's religious congregations in the field of nursing, shedding light on their historical role and influence, in the 19th century. In the context of the socio-cultural changes that shaped the period, women's communities became key actors in the provision of health care and education. This article examines not only the emergence and development of these institutions, but also their responses to the challenges and changes over time. The main thesis of the article is that women's religious congregations, although often neglected today, had a major impact on shaping nursing practice and the position of women in society. The aim is to provide new insights and suggestions for further exploration of this historical phenomenon, which deserves greater attention within the history of nursing.
