The History of Chemistry in Technical Museum Exhibitions: Development, Important Figures, and Technological Milestones

2025, Volume 58, Issue 1-2

Abstract

Technical museums showcase the history and development of chemistry in various forms – through government, corporate, university, or private initiatives. Their focus ranges from exact science and historical instruments to key discoveries, manufacturing processes, and famous chemists. While their approaches differ, they all aim to highlight chemistry’s role in technological progress and everyday life. The National Technical Museum in Prague features „Chemistry Around Us“, an exhibit on the role of chemistry in daily life, historical and modern processes, key Czech chemists, and a reconstructed alchemical lab.
