The present study of the early professional activities of Jiří Němec (1932–2001) in the field of clinical psychology shows his increasing orientation towards the phenomenological-anthropological direction, of which he was an important promoter and original interpreter in Czechoslovakia from the late 1960s to the early 1980s.
